Dummy Head Care Sheet

First, ... We (Owen and Josh – Owners) want to personally thank you for your purchase and for trusting us to fuel your ballistic entertainment needs. We pour out our blood, sweat and tears into our hand-crafted, custom-made shooting targets and ballistic heads... and we hope it brings you as much entertainment and education as it has for us. Our ballistic heads are made by hand, with little to no technological assistance. There isn’t a scientific way to center the skulls in the ballistic head, and although not perfect, we do our best to make your head to look as good as we can. We truly hope and expect that you will have a great experience.

Having said that... to ensure you have the best possible experience, we are providing you with this care sheet to ensure all goes well. Please follow the instructions as follows

Storage – We strongly recommend that you use (shoot) the ballistic dummy head as soon as possible. To provide an earth-friendly, biodegradable target that can at times become a little messy... the Ballistic head is made of mostly perishable materials, other than the resin or plastic skull (However, do not consume or allow pets to consume the ballistic gel, as that would be unhealthy…it would cause illness and potentially death…. The ballistic gel does contain 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to assist with clarity of the ballistic gel). Therefore, refrigeration is important for your ballistic head shelf life. Do not freeze it but refrigerate until use…. However, this ballistic gel has a warmer freezing temp than water, so turn your refrigerator and freezer temperature settings to the warmest settings possible. Also, keep it wrapped, and the condensation will keep it from drying out, however if not used in a timely manner, it may mold. When taking it out to shoot... keep it cool as long as possible, and out of direct sunlight until you are ready to shoot.

Fragile – Though not guaranteed via FBI ballistic standards (shooting a bb into ballistic gel and measuring travel distance, etc.) we prepare our ballistic gel at the appropriate ratio to get a realistic ballistic performance of your dummy. The ballistic gel is fragile yet firm and your dummy needs to be protected as it can be damaged/torn/broken if proper care isn’t taken.

Ammunition – Hollow point and frangible ammunition are explosive on these dummy heads... Have fun! FMJ will zip through, certainly fracture, but has a drastically different effect. Both are unique, entertaining, and educational! We personally recommend VMAX!

Setup – We recommend for the best view, angles and use that you set up the ballistic head on a table.... although the ballistic head stand may allow you to shoot the head while placing it on the ground if the ground is even enough. For local purchases (sorry it is too big to fit in our shipping box)… We include a ballistic head stand template allowing you to build the stand from dollar store foam board... an affordable and practical way to keep your head from tipping over, etc. Always follow all gun safety rules. Be mindful of your backdrop and surroundings. Be safe!

Cleanup – Although the ballistic head is made of mostly perishable/biodegradable materials... you still have a responsibility to clean up after yourself. Please don’t leave a mess for others. You might consider placing a garbage bag underneath your ballistic head to make cleanup much easier after use. We recommend bringing a couple garbage bags, some latex gloves, and some sanitary wipes to assist with the cleanup. Be mindful of wildlife as well.

Again... Thank you very much for your purchase. Please tell your friends about Utah Backyard Ballistics and share your experience (and footage) with us! We really enjoy hearing back from our customers and seeing your videos and first impressions. Please connect with us through social media!

Sincerely,

Owen and Josh (Owners)
